Neha Dhupia was born on August 27th 1980 in Kochi but was raised in New Delhi. Neha’s dad was an army officer which gave her plenty of opportunities to travel across India.

Neha, who started modeling for fun in college, got her first break on television and while acting in a serial applied for the Miss India contest. Neha with her grace and intelligence won the Miss India crown and stood ninth at the Miss Universe competition. Neha started receiving many Bollywood offers when she was reining Miss India however; she decided to opt for south movies before she makes her Bollywood debut.
 
After working on a couple of Telugu project, the actress decided to venture into Bollywood and signed up Harry Baweja’s ‘Qayamat’ opposite Ajay Devgan. The actress however; failed to make her Bollywood impact. Neha then, decided to reinvent her image from a Plain Jane to a sex siren in her next movie ‘Julie’ in which she played a prostitute. The bold image makeover didn’t quite work for Neha as the audiences felt that she was aping Mallika Sherawat. Not being quite successful with getting offers in Bollywood, Neha decided to work only with big banners and opted for more meaningful roles as she tried to shed her sexy image which apparently didn’t do her much good. In three years of her career, Neha has tried switching from Plain Jane to sex bomb and is back to her good girl image.
